Storytelling takes off in Tanzania

Your partnership is raising up a national team of local trainers in Eastern Africa to lead School of Storying projects on their own! God’s faithfulness exceeds our expectations!

Last year, through your faithful giving and prayers, God opened doors for StoryRunners to host two Schools of Storying (SOS) and church planting trainings in Tanzania, led by American SOS trainers. As Gideon, the Cru national director of Tanzania, saw the fruit of these School of Storying projects, he began to dream beyond.

What if these local Tanzanians trainers took ownership of facilitating SOS projects and church planting trainings for the 19 targeted languages in Tanzania? What if they were no longer dependent on Americans to lead but Tanzanians led the projects themselves?

With Gideon’s vision, we’ve been busy developing plans to do something we’ve never done before: develop 13 new local trainers in just 12 months. You may remember that in the past, we have developed local trainers in West Africa over the course of six years. Now, God is opening up opportunities for us to build into and commission local trainers, the most effective practitioners of oral Bible story development, in just 12 months! And as local Tanzanians own SOS projects and church planting trainings, our American team is able to go to more countries for oral Bible story development. Praise God!

Gideon himself has a message for you: “Tell the [partners] that [our ministry] will never be the same since StoryRunners came to us.  They will transform our national ministry.  Pray for the program, the participants, and lasting fruit.”
